AMWA AZ Annual Hujjaj Dinner and Fundraiser November 2013

The American Muslim Women’s Association (AMWA) honored the Hujjaj from the valley of the sun on Sunday, November 24th at the Chandler Community Center. Attended by a large number of diversified Muslim families across the valley, the occasion brought together families and friends of Hujjaj along with volunteers and supporters of AMWA over the years.

Formed 16 years ago by a group of dedicated and ...honorable ladies with the aim of supporting poor, needy and helpless women, the AMWA has come a long way in accomplishing its mission. It has grown and flourished into a very mature charitable organization. Thanks to the dedicated board members and the volunteers, AMWA is always reaching out making a difference in the lives of less fortunate and disadvantaged. AMWA refugees programs are providing support to the refugees’ families to help them have a good life with good shelter, finding jobs and donating household stuff. In addition, the AMWA educational programs benefit the children of poor families.

The program started with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by the English translation by the children of ACA. Christine Choudhary and Hanan Ismail welcomed the guests and thanked them for their presence. Saba Khan gave a passionate overview of the core values and mission of AMWA thanking the community for their support that makes these charitable causes possible. The guest speaker Ahmad Al Akoum congratulated the hujjaj for their journey to the holy land. He urged the community members to support AMWA with their financial contributions so that AMWA can continue to work on these noble causes. The president of AMWA, Shabana Fayyaz, talked about the accomplishments of the AMWA over the years honoring the founders of AMWA for their vision and insight. The Muslim refugees’ children need laptops as they enter into their college lives. Shabana Fayyaz donated her laptops and got pledge for 5 more new laptops. At the conclusion, the AMWA board members came on the stage and recited the AMWA pledge. The dinner followed.
